Weekly Wrap 26

Welcome to Weekly Wrap 26! This week was an in between cycles week.  I’ve recovered from Earth Day 50k, but have not yet started training for Berlin Marathon.  It was a good week, full of amazing spring weather! Linking up with Holly and Wendy to bring you Weekly Wrap 26.

Monday 4/30

Run:  Easy 6 mile run in the morning. I slept too late to join Stair Mondays, but was able to catch some sunshine before work.

Other: I went to the Cubs game in the evening with Jeremy and Nez.  It was a great way to celebrate all of us finishing our spring race successes: Jeremy with his first ultra and age group award, Nez with a marathon PR and me with a third place finish at Earth Day.  Plus the Cubs finally won!

Tuesday 5/1

Run: My first real sprint workout in a while with Track Tuesday.  I did 4x800m and probably could have done more but I didn’t want to over do it for my first week back. Totaled 6 miles with the warmup and cool down.  Everyone was in good spirits and we took a great goofy series of photos at the end. Scroll through to see Instagram vs reality in the photos below. HA!

Other:  In the afternoon, I met some other work remote friends to work in the sunshine.  A lot more friends are starting to have flexible schedule jobs and it’s nice to have company when I get back from schools in the morning.

Wednesday 5/2

Run:  Single Leg Day! I ran to and from EDGE in the morning for class because….

Other: My car’s brakes died.  Instead of going to a school in the morning I had to take it into the shop and work remote.  Being an adult at it’s finest, eye roll.

Thursday 5/3

Run:  I went to my heated HIIT yoga class this morning for the first time in a while.  I’m looking forward to getting back in the rhythm of doing that class again.  It’s a great mix of total body strength, stretching and heat training.

Friday 5/4

Run:  November Project had a an amazing Star Wars themed workout for May the 4th (May the 4th be with you… may the force be with you) As you can see from the title photo, it was epic.  I totaled 7.25 miles for the day between easy run and the workout.  After, I joined for breakfast at Panera and caught up with Nicole before riding a Divvy back home.

Other: To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, I published a new recipe:  vegan black bean and mango tacos.

Saturday 5/5

Run: I had no run plans for today.  No distance, no time, no group run planned.  It was refreshing to be able to wake up and just think Hmmm, what do I want to do today?  Soon that will change when I start training for the Berlin Marathon.  I ended up heading to EDGE, thinking I would run an easy 10 miles along the lake. Robyn and Dan were heading out for an easy 7 miles, so I hopped in with them for a bit.  Totaled 10.25 miles in the sunshine.

Other:  It felt like a summer day so I did summery things like ride a bike to get vegan paletas at Gordo’s with Nez.  It was the first time I had been back since last summer’s vegan ice cream bike crawl, and it was as delicious as I remembered.

Sunday 5/6

Run: In the morning, I drove to the trails for EDGE’s Flying Pug trail race.  It’s a super casual 5 mile “race” at Willow Springs.  It was nice to have a good mix of November Project and EDGE friends.  Plus everything was GREEN!  Spring finally feels like it has arrived! That put me in a great mood.

Other:  The rest of the day was spent between meal prep, blogging, catching up on coaching, and chilling on the patio of my favorite coffee shop finishing up North, the new Scott Jurek book.  It’s making me want to hike the AT!

And that’s a wrap!  Totaled 42 miles of running, plus 16ish miles of biking.  I’m just maintaining a base until I start training for the Berlin Marathon later in May.  I was talking with my mom earlier today and remarked that it’s weird NOT to have an ultra for the fall, but I am looking forward on getting back into a marathon training routine.  Otherwise this was a fantastic week.  Sunshine and warmer weather makes me so happy.

How was your week?  What activities do you like to do on a warm spring day?  Let’s stay in touch!  Follow me on Instagram  or Facebook for more food/fitness related posts.

Happy running,

Oh fun! You’re doing Berlin! I ran it in 2013. Quite awhile ago 🙂 But I do have an old recap on my blog if you’re interested. Excited to follow your training for it!

That’s such a cute and clever “force” picture! The frozen treat looks delicious too. It’s very exciting to hear you’ll be training for Berlin soon. Thanks for linking!

Great week and I love that pic of you all “hanging around”! Excited for you to run Berlin. Being there last fall already feels like a million years ago.

That HIIT yoga class sounds really amazing! I’m not a fan of traditional yoga but I would love to try a class like that!

Looks like a fun, active week! I love the first days of sunshine and warmth, but living in the South, I am so over it by December or whenever it finally cools off 🙂

You’re welcome! I’m in the middle of three books (it’s a bad habit 😂-I’m trying to read just one at a time…) I’m reading Running Dangerously, The Sleep Revolution, & Race Everything.

Great week! Do you have a training plan for Berlin or do you write up your own? I agree it’s such a nice treat to wake up and decide on the spot where you want to run, how far, or if you feel more like doing a class. Enjoy your in between time!
