November Runfessions 2018

It’s the end of the month, joining up with Marcia for November 2018 Runfessions.  Runfessions are where we “bear our souls or soles” and share our running confessions of the month.  Doubling up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for their Friday linkup too.  It’s been quite some time since I’ve had a good runfession session, so here we go!

November runfessions

I runfess that my speed has been ghosting me lately.  The past three weeks, I’ve struggled to hit paces and have left my workouts disappointed and dissatisfied.  I runfess that I even asked my coach to ease up on the pace group and today’s workout was still a mess.  My confidence is pretty low, which only makes my mental game worse.  If I’m totally being honest, I haven’t felt confident in my speed ability since my injury in July.  Even though I am fully healed, it still feels like I am trying to dig myself out of a hole.

The news I received yesterday made my confidence fall even lower.  Nike released new team time qualifications for the Windrunners, and I runfess I am concerned I will not meet them.  The qualifications are aggressive, and even during my peak PR season  I hit or was close only to a few of them.  I runfess I’m nervous about being kicked off the team.  However, this is an opportunity to rise to the occasion and push myself to be better.  There are time standards for every distance from the 5k to marathon.  After talking it over with my coach, the “easiest” of the races to target is the 5k.  A complete 180 from my 50 mile thoughts this spring!  I’ve never trained for a 5k before so this should be interesting!

I runfess that I only bought stuff for myself during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Granted, my family decided on no presents this year, so that helped.  I think part of my running problem has to do with hormones (an eating disorder lingering effect), so I runfess that I bought InsideTracker.  The company analyzes your blood, DNA, diet and lifestyle to give you insights into how to better train and eat in order to reach peak performance.  I’m really looking forward to the recommendations!

I runfess I am SO looking forward to a little mini vacation this weekend.  I’m traveling to Tennessee Friday evening through Sunday for  Katie’s wedding.  Katie introduced me to November Project, helped me fully transition to being vegan, and has been my number one running vacation pal.  Together, we’ve done Berlin, Tokyo, New York, Boston, Chicago… all of our World Majors to date!  I’ve never been to Tennessee before, which makes the trip even more exciting.  This time I WILL make it to the airport with plenty of time to spare so I don’t repeat a Berlin fiasco!  I think disconnecting this weekend and getting out of my normal environment will do me some good.

Throwback to our Tokyo trip!

So tell me…what are your 2018 November runfessions? Have you ever trained for a 5k? Did you splurge with any shopping this weekend? Let’s stay in touch!  Follow me on Instagram or Facebook for more food/fitness related posts.

Happy running,

Also a shopper for myself on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Coffee, a microwave and two shirts.
I hope the trip helped you – and good luck with the hormone tracker. I have PCOS and know from my energy if my numbers will be off even before I get results. Can be frustrating but helpful.

I’ve never heard of Inside Tracker! I’m interested in learning more about that. I think you made a good decision to chase the 5k. I hope you crush it!

And yes, I may have bought a few things for myself on Black Friday.

I have used Inside Tracker before and I really loved all the results and personalized recommendations. I missed the Black Friday sale – darn!

Except for a couple of things, I indulged myself on Black Friday too. Whoops! I’m sorry meeting the time goal is causing you stress. I’m sending all the speedy vibes to keep you on the team. Enjoy your weekend away!

Good luck with your speedwork. You have a good attitude – look at it as a challenge to do better. Have a great mini-vacation, too!

I also bought a few things for myself on Black Friday-hey why not!? I am also struggling to get my pace back since the calf injury. I have gotten the distance back but not so much on the pace. I Runfess that I don’t care as much as I used to. Have fun this weekend!

You’re supposed to buy stuff for other people on Cyber Monday, LOL? Is that a thing? 😉

Good luck qualifying!

Obviously my pace is quite a bit different from you, but it’s been really slow lately. Dunno why. Probably a good thing as I continue to recover.

Have a great weekend!
