Weekly Wrap 15

Happy Sunday!  Did you have a good week?  I’m recapping Week 6 of Earth Day 50k training and lots of fun life updates.  This was a great week.  Linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap 15.

Weekly Wrap 2018

Monday 2/12

Run: Mountain Goat Monday – 8.25 miles, 2020 feet on the treadmill.  This time around I practiced running at a moderate pace UP the inclines.  I did 3x through this set, .25 miles for each: 6% (8:00), 2% (8:30), 15% (15:00), 6% (7:41), 2% (7:20), 2% (8:30). After that, I did a few more miles and cool down to get my to 8.25 miles.

Other:  In preparation for Valentine’s Day, I published the recipe for these 2-ingredient raw vegan truffles made with dates and cacao.  You flavor them with the coating – raspberry, pistachio or more cacao.  They are delicious and really simple to make.

Tuesday 2/13

Run: Easy 10 miles in the morning along the lake.  Even though the weather was chilly, I was so happy to be outside!

Other:  I wasn’t feeling too well – felt the start of a sinus cold coming on.  I took the day off of work to rest and try to nip it early.

Wednesday 2/14

Run: 7 miles with some hiking, again on the treadmill.  I took it SUPER easy because my nose was very stuffed up, but the running helped clear it up.

Other:  Celebrated Valentine’s Day with a post about my five favorite vegan dessert recipes.  I also went and tried out Veggie Grill, a new fast-casual all-vegan restaurant in Chicago.  Zach and I split some tacos and they were INCREDIBLE.  I’m so excited that they opened up down the street from me, everything on the menu looks incredible.  Who want’s to join me?

Thursday 2/15

Run: Just a rest day today.  Went to yoga class in the morning and got a great stretch.

Other: I made my first ever SALE today!  My friend Katie asked if I could make her some energy bites and truffles.  I was THRILLED and of course did so, but it also made my brain start to turn.  Is selling vegan baked goods something I could do?? Hmm.  Wheels are a’spinnin’.

Friday 2/16

Run: Today was one of my scheduled no work days, so I decided to bump my long run up to Friday/Saturday in order to have my Sunday free.  Due to all the snow, I knew the trails would not be runnable.  So what did I do?  Twenty miles… on the treadmill.  WOOF!  But the upside was I had Katie there next to me.  Plus all the Olympics, morning news, and cooking shows I could watch.

Other: I went to Jon’s place to watch the Olympics and chow down on pizza.  We ordered a vegan pesto pizza from Coalfire Pizzeria, which has both vegan and non-vegan pizza.  It was ok, the crust was too thin for me though.

My face: Is this over yet?

Saturday 2/17

Run:  Met Nez, Jeremy and AJ at EDGE for an easy 10 miles.  I was super happy that I was able to do some sub-8 minute miles the day after a 20 mile and I actually felt really good!

Other:  Went home to HP for Jon’s birthday.  Mom ordered a VEGAN cake for him from Blind Faith Cafe (one of my favorite places) and it was delicious.  Frizzle was as rambunctious as ever.

Sunday 2/18

Run:  Went to hot yoga at Zen Yoga Garage with Fran.  At the start of class I could barely get into downward facing dog because I was SO tight, but by the end, I was much more flexible.

Other:  Probably the COOLEST thing ever!  In the mail, I received the February Stridebox.  Stridebox is a monthly running subscription box that features some running related fueling products and accessories.  Each month they include a recipe card and this month they featured ME! I squealed with happiness as I opened the box and saw my face and lemon coconut energy bites staring back at me.  I’m on cloud nine.

And that’s all I have for Weekly Wrap 15!  I totaled 55.5 miles for the week with 9,040 feet of elevation.  No wonder I was so tight in yoga on Sunday!  Lot’s of great things happened this week, between my first official sale and Stridebox feature.  Next week is another build.  Bring it on!

How was your week?  Have you ever gotten a subscription box?  What did you do for Valentine’s Day?

Happy running,

Becca

Sounds like a super exciting week (except for the cold). Congrats on your sale & being featured (and no, I don’t do any subscription boxes).

20 miles on the mill . . . .that takes a whole lot of dedication!

Your truffles look delicious and congrats on being featured in Stide Box! That’s so fun. Way to settle in and knock out 20 on the mill. That’s a character builder for sure!

Congrats on getting featured in StrideBox! I love their monthly boxes – always filled with goodies.

I’m looking forward to reading your recipe for the vegan truffles!

Congrats on our first sale! Yay for getting featured in Stridebox, how exciting! I used to get those boxes back in the day, but I didn’t end up using half the stuff I received in there.

Please tell me what you did to stay sane on your 20 mile treadmill run. My high score for the treadmill is 14 miles and I watched a Netflix show ‘halt and catch fire’ but I’m almost at the end of it and I need suggestions for what to entertain myself with next.

I haven’t subscribed to a box myself, but I did give a one-time runnerbox to my sister last year as a surprise. She seemed to like it.
