Summer Plans + Giveaway

Summer is here!  School is out! Marathon training has begun!  If you’ve been following along with my weekly wraps, you’ll know all about my life events so far this year.  Quick recap: I started a food business, got third place in my 50k, became a coach at EDGE, and shared about my eating disorder recovery journey on Health Warrior’s blog.  And the year is only half over! There are lots of events that I am looking forward too this summer and beyond. Linking up with Patty, Erika, and Marcia for Tuesdays on the Run and Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five to bring you  a summer plans giveaway!

June Vacation

I’m taking another 10 day vacation at the end of June.  Even though it’s been three years since I was a classroom teacher, I still forget to use my vacation days.  July and August we work entirely in the office instead of traveling to schools, meaning lots of meetings, projects, and trainings.  So I am definitely looking forward to some time off before that all begins.  Although… I haven’t exactly planned what I want to do on vacation (food business and coaching is taking up my spare time!).  Any recommendations on destinations or cheap airline tickets?

Minnesota wedding

My dear friend from college is getting married in August.  She lives in Minnesota and it’s been too long since I’ve seen her and the rest of my college girl friends.  Since we graduated, we all scattered over the Midwest and over the years have not been able to see each other as much.  This will definitely be a fun reunion.

Birthday

I consider September to still be summer.  I turn 30 in September and am actually really looking forward to leaving my 20s behind me.  My 20s kind of sucked.  OK, there was LOTS of good that happened.  I ran my first half marathon and then first marathon.  I qualified as a semi-elite runner for the Tokyo Marathon. Switching to trails, I ran my first 50 mile race, and placed 3rd in my most recent 50k.  I started a coaching business to help other runners progress and achieve their goals.  Now I started a food business.  I found November Project.  I found EDGE.  All amazing things.  But I also suffered from terrible depression and an eating disorder for basically all of my 20s.  So needless to say, I’m looking forward to a new decade.

Berlin Marathon

I’m switching my focus from ultras to marathons for the summer and training for the Berlin Marathon in September.  I’m actually REALLY looking forward to it.  Don’t get me wrong. Trail running is amazing and I think I was born for ultra endurance events. BUT the amount of time that goes into training is exhausting.  So I am looking forward to more manageable workouts (time-wise) and building speed back up.  Best part is the Jon (little brother) will be running it as well!  AND it’s his very first marathon!

One of us likes running more than the other…

Europe Trip

I’m not traveling all the way to Germany to run a marathon without turning it into a European vacation! Jon and I plan to travel around Germany and then head to Amsterdam.  We recently booked plane tickets and the Air BnB.  I am PUMPED to explore!

As you can see, my summer plans include a LOT of travel.  So to kick it off, I’m giving away one of my favorite travel snacks: Thunderbird Bars.  They’re made from real ingredients, just fruits, nuts and spices.  Perfect for marathon training too because they are such a clean snack choice.  Stick ’em in a bag for a road trip or plane flight and you are good to go!

Enter the giveaway by leaving a comment and using the Rafflecopter Widget below. There are multiple ways to enter. Leave a blog comment to unlock the rest of the entry opportunities.  Must be 18 years or older, US Residents and live in the United States.  Offer is void where prohibited.  Giveaway ends June 24th and the will be selected and notified via email.

What are your vacation plans?

Happy running,

Becca

You sound like you have such great plans for the summer. I wish mine were full of travel plans like yours. I’ll be working pretty much the whole time, but I hope to be able to make family vacation in August

Are you a Virgo? Of course you are. (I am too, no shade.) Part of me doesn’t believe that stuff, then part of me is like…

Also, your 30s are totally better. I promise.

I’m not getting out of town as much as I’d like but I’m going to Door County, Madison, and Alabama. Like you, I consider September summer (I’m a September baby too) and I’ll be running Zooma in Delavan Lake.

I’m from Minnesota, and it will be an absolute blast! I would definitely recommend running by a lake if you get the chance! I know I’ll be doing that this summer!

I do not blame you one little bit for turning your marathon into a vacation! I would do the same if I was traveling that far away and to a foreign country! 🙂 I’m a September birthday too! Are we fellow Virgos or are you a Libra? 🙂

I’ve not heard of those bars but they sound great. I have to say my 20s were not my best decade either. How cool your bro will be running in Berlin as well! You’re going to have a blast! I love Amsterdam! Compared to last summer’s trip to Dubai/Greece, we’re pretty tame this year. We’re headed South at the end of June for a bunch of college visits starting at Vanderbilt in TN and ending up in Miami.

I just got back from Spain and I loved it! I am going back to Germany to run the marathon as well and because I came back from Europe eager to explore more, I am extending my stay. I dont know exactly where else I am going to. But, I need to decide and book it soon!
I hope you enjoy your summer & happy running,
Ana
